When Alejandro, nicknamed “El Mono”, dies of cancer in his early forties, his brother Fernando and their two childhood friends, Mauricio and el “Ruso” decide to take care of El Mono’s daughter Guadalupe and ensure her a good future. But El Mono didn’t have any money – he invested every penny he owned on a young and promising football player who turned out to be a failure. Sacheri’s latest novel is an ode to love, friendship and humor. It shows once again how remarkable a storyteller the author’s, full of tenderness and compassion for his characters. Like The Question in their eyes, it would make a wonderful movie.
